After Late Sri Amar Chowdhury (creator of the first Bangla talkie feature film), his son Late Sri Arun Chowdhury took up the baton and went on to write, direct, act and even produce several Bengali films during the Golden era of Uttam-Suchitra. Here the films directed or produced by him has been exhibited. This apart he had acted in various films playing a plethora of characters. Scripts and stories written by him including that of "Paasher Bari" which was later remade in Hindi as "Padosan", are at present under our care. Sadly he did not get the recognition or rewards he deserved as the writer when the Hindi remake went on to become a cult film. We would be delighted if any film making professional desires to work on his scripts or stories.

As per data accumulated from Bengali film magazine “Chitrobaani - 1956 edition”.

Pasher Bari was made into Telugu in 1953 (Pakkinti Ammaay), Tamil 1958 (Adutha Veettu Penn) and again in Telugu in 1981. Really a great story. Shri Arun Chowdhury should surely have been given his due. Hats off to him!
